    Description

This is an uber rare Boston Whaler Red Dot 15’. If you are not familiar with the famous and rare Red Dot, a quick google search will tell the story. They are almost impossible to find. It was the recipient of a professional restoration/modification process during the Covid shutdown. Too many details to list, but I will provide an overview here and fill in the blanks when you ask questions.  The hull is a 1980 and spent the winter drying out before being painted top and bottom with Pettit Topside paint. Once painted it was fitted with a 2016 Honda BF50 that now has 21 hours on it. A custom aluminum center console was fitted with the fuel tank tucked under the forward seat. A factory made leaning post was installed, as was hydraulic steering, a keel guard, and Gator Step non-slip heavy duty marine traction pads. It has a basic Garmin GPS/DF unit and very nice bluetooth weatherproof stereo. This boat never had the bow rails, but the original side rails were re-installed. This whole package sits on a 2020 aluminum custom professionally built trailer with 14” wheels. So light and easy to handle with or without the boat. This boat is the most incredible riding 15 footer you will ever find. I have owned several open whalers between 13 and 19 feet, and this is without question the best riding one of the bunch….both comfortable and dry. I honestly cannot explain why, but it has to be that extra 120-140 lbs of fiberglass the Red Dots received. The 50 Honda is the perfect engine for this boat, with great performance but not so much as to feel squirrelly. Unfortunately I thought the kids would give up one of the other water toys for this, but I am the only one in total love with this boat. The boss lady from time to time puts her foot down on the toy situation, and she has said one more boat is one too many. So here is a chance to have the rarest of the rare, and continue any mods to suit your own tastes. I have extra paint, a detailed built list with most receipts, and some extras. It is currently licensed and titled in Washington State, which titles both trailers and boats. While not the equivalent of a new boat, this one is very cool, very pretty and very special. You will make lots of new friends at the boat launch or out on the water. I am into sports cars as well as boats, and I liken this to a mid-engine sports car…..the most incredible handling set-up, but not the fastest ride around. I just love looking at it. Will help you with shipping on this end if need be. Otherwise the trailer is ready for a cross country haul if that is your thing. Can water trial it at my house if we have agreed on all the other terms. Hit me with any questions.
